TRUSTING IN THE LORD

Hola!

So we had a pretty good week. I got to do some divisions with my district leader, which was pretty good and my companion had to talk to everybody on the phone while I was gone and there were some funny misunderstandings haha.

While I was on divisions, I learned some things. Our district leader is a little strange and I was wondering why.  He doesn´t speak Spanish very well and doesn´t have very much success but while I was with him we started talking to investigators and just from talking to them they wanted to go to church. They changed in front of our eyes and it was obviously the Spirit. My pride took quite a hit, because I had been trying to do the work without the Lord´s help, and right now He is showing me that it just doesn´t work that way.

I came back from the division a little down and decided to just trust in the Lord, and we had two people come to church yesterday and we found a man yesterday who is ready to change his life and is preparing to be baptized.
Conclusion? When we trust in the Lord, He allows us to be instruments in His hands to achieve miracles. When we do the work in our own way, we don´t progress and we are always fighting.

Alright, well keep being awesome everybody! Pray for the people here in Argentina, and basically everywhere, so that they will accept the Gospel. I love you

Divisions with President!

Queridos,

So we had a pretty great week, working a lot but we´re working on finding and so we´ll be seeing some fruits from that here soon I´m sure.

President called me yesterday morning before church and asked if he could accompany us and of course I said yes, even though we only had one set appointment for the night. We did divisions and of course that appointment fell through, but we were able to meet with a few less-actives together and actually did some street contacting, which was pretty cool.

We went with him and his two sons and he is super humble. He gave us some ideas to go finding and he is just super excited about the work. Super young too, it was like going out to visit some members with a young mens leader or something, crazy haha.

My companion is super funny. Getting the hang of the language and very sincere and we get along a lot. Elder Young, my companion from Chacabuco, is our zone leader so got to talk to him a few times this week. We were standing outside the chapel before a meeting and he looks at me and says, "So I´m not exactly what I´m supposed to do as a zone leader, just smile and hug everybody or what?" It was pretty funny.

Welp that is about it. Congrats to Whitney with the whole baby shower deal, super excited to see pictures of that kid. Probably an exact copy of Fox, should be able to pass off as brothers or twins or something.

Love you guys,

Another Transfer in Caballito!

HOLA!!!
So fam, we had a good week. Alright, so ALL the citizens of Argentina had to vote on Sunday, if not they get a ticket, so all the missionaries from Argentina who lived within 50'0 kilometers of their house had to go home and vote. My companion wasn´t going to vote since he´s from Salta, but he had put his address as his grandma´s so he wouldn´t have to vote while in Salta, so he had to go to the south of Buenos Aires. He couldn´t be in sacrament for the confirmation, so yours truly had to confirm Rebeca, and I think it went well haha.

My companion got transferred today and I got a fresh gringo! He´s got 6 months in the mission and 3 weeks in Argentina because he was waiting for his visa. He´s pretty funny and I´m excited to work a lot with him.

LOTS of changes this transfer. They opened up 15 areas and divided at least 3 zones as far as I know. Both Elder Pastrana and Elder Young, my two companions from Chacabuco, are zone leaders now and Elder Young is my zone leader! We were pretty stoked for that.

I´m so happy that I stayed in this area. When I got here there wasn´t much work and still there isn´t much, we´ve got a lot of work to do but I'm just so happy. The members here are awesome and I just love having the assurance that I am where the Lord wants me to be.

The Church is true! Share it with your fam and friends, use Facebook! haha

Love,

FIRST BAPTISM IN CABALLITO!

Hey everybody!
We had our first baptism here in Caballito and it rocked. Rebeca from the Dominican Republic got baptized yesterday and it was awesome. At the beginning of the week we weren´t really sure if she was ready or if she really wanted to get baptized, so we just kept asking her to read and pray every night and she received her answer.

On Friday we had a lesson in the chapel and we ended up having the lesson IN the baptismal font and it was incredible. The Spirit was so strong and she knew that she was ready to get baptized. After the lesson my companion was saying that we might be wasting time with her but I felt so strongly that she was going to be baptized this weekend, and she did!
The sad part is that her brother didn´t come to church yesterday or to her baptism which really bummed us out and we´ll be going to see him tomorrow. I think that is about it.

One of the sister missionaries that is working in the other half of the ward told me that we have to write all the weird things that happen here in Argentina. We were talking about it and realized that a lot of things that are probably weird we don´t even recognize because we are already accustomed to it.

A few things that are different here:
-We work in an area with a few prostitutes.....and by a few I mean 20....
-some people chew cocaine leaves for sickness
-lots of dog poop everywhere haha

Oh, and on a side note, I have come to love Peruvian food. There´s a dish called lomo saltado that is heavenly. Rice with beef and french fries on top. I don´t know how it is made but it rocks my socks off. Alright, I think that is it.

Love you all, keep being awesome.
